C4 recommissions Man Down

Second series for Greg Davies sitcom

Channel 4 has recommissioned Greg Davies' sitcom Man Down.

The broadcaster confirmed that a second series would be made for broadcast next year, following a Christmas special.

The series, which also starts Roisin Conaty, Rik Mayall and Mike Wozniak, launched last month with an audience of 1.5 million, slightly down on its slot average but good for a first-run comedy.

Channel 4 confirmed the news at the Upfronts, when broadcasters reveal their forthcoming schedules to advertisers.

Davies said: 'I'm so delighted that Channel 4 have given me and the team another series of Man Down. Great news for us, terrible news for the characters...'

C4's head of comedy Phil Clarke told the Radio Times: 'We are delighted it’s coming back for a second series. It’s such an original piece of work and Greg Davies has proved that he can carry his own comedy as writer and lead character. People love him and it has been a genuinely popular show.'
