'Personal family news' means she has to stay close to home

Laura Smyth has pulled her stand-up tour two days before it was due to start, citing ‘recent personal family news’.

The comedian was due to kick off her Born Aggy show in Lincoln tomorrow night, but called off the tour yesterday, saying:‘I now need to be close to home’.

In an Instagram post, she said: ‘I am absolutely gutted to announce that my upcoming tour has to be postponed.

‘My team and I have tried everything to make the tour go ahead as scheduled. This isn't a decision I've taken lightly, but due to some recent personal family news, I now need to be close to home.

‘I am so grateful to everyone who has bought tickets and have been as excited as me about the tour.

‘I appreciate this news will be frustrating and am so sorry for any inconvenience this postponement causes. I am looking forward to being able to update you with the new dates as soon as possible all tickets will be transferrable of course.

‘I will also be taking some time away from social media, but hope to stay in contact through the podcast, and other work I can do during this time.

‘I appreciate you all so much. Going back on tour has felt like looking forward to catching up with mates - we just have to wait a little longer. Love you all and thank you for your patience and understanding.’

The podcast she mentioned is Shouldn't Laugh But… which she co-hosts with her best friend Carmen Butcher.

The 44-year-old – who is married with three children – is also known for her Radio 4 show Your Mum and  I Don't Know What To Say, in which she spoke about her stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in 2021. She performed on Live at the Apollo two weeks after her cancer treatment concluded.
