Harry Hill voices a talking painbrush, with fellow comics as guests
Comedians including Harry Hill, Romesh Ranganathan and Katherine Ryan are taking part in a new kids’ arts show for CBBC.
Go Get Arty is hosted by real-life arty YouTube family, the Kwapongs, who each week take on different creative challenges, such as creating a table football ‘Kwembly stadium’ or stained-glass effect wearable wings.
Hill voices the series in the guise of talking paintbrush Bristles/ One segment has I’m offer a ‘brief guide to…various artists.
He said: ‘When I was first asked to voice a talking paintbrush, I thought - finally, a role that speaks to me!
‘Bristles is cheeky, colourful, and knows more about art than I ever will. It’s been a total blast bringing him to life, and I can’t wait for kids and their whole families to get stuck in with the arty fun. Go Get Arty is silly, smart and properly creative – a bit like me on a good day.’
Meanwhile, Celebrity Drawalongs feature famous names showing their efforts, such as Ryan’s playful cat, and Ranganathan’s rapping T-Rex, Tom Allen’s fancy unicorn and Aisling Bea’s potato-eating puffin,
Fifteen quarter-hour episodes have been commissioned from Ranganathan’s production company Ranga Bee.
Managing director Benjamin Green said: ‘Go Get Arty proves that art isn’t just for galleries – it’s for living rooms, kitchen tables, and very chatty paintbrushes!
‘We have absolutely loved creating this ambitious, funny, modern take on an art show… and I think we can all agree, the world needs more gold pens and googly eyes right now.’
BBC executive Sarah Muller added: ‘The show is packed with creative inspiration, playful competition, and tons of laughs. It’s an invitation for all children across the UK to pick up their paintbrushes and express their imagination and creativity.’
