Katherine Ryan joins 8 Out Of 10 Cats

Comic will be the new team captain

Katherine Ryan is to become a full-time team captain on E4’s 8 out of 10 Cats when the series returns tomorrow night.

The job will again see her working alongside host Jimmy Carr, after fronting Comedy Central’s Roast Battles and Your Face Or Mine together.

The last series of the panel show, based on public surveys, had a different guest team captain every week opposite Rob Beckett, who remains as a permanent fixture of the show.

Ryan said: ‘By now, everyone knows that I have information on Jimmy and I’m not afraid to use it. There have been many baby steps, but appearing on Cats in 2012 was without a doubt my biggest break. Describing a new The Voice style format called The Arse – a search for Britain’s greatest bum on the show was a life-changing moment and I cannot wait to return to Cats as team captain alongside my good friend, Rob Beckett.’

Channel 4 commissioning editor, Tamsin Dodgson added: ‘Over the past few years, Katherine Ryan has become a staple of fresh comedy on Channel 4.

‘Her appearances as a panellist on Cats have been unforgettable, but we are now beyond thrilled that Katherine will be bringing her razor-sharp wit and savage comedic style to the show full time.’

Other guests on tomorrow night’s episode are comics Tom Allen and Sophie Duker, Made In Chelsea's Sophie Hermann, and Richard Osman, who is also an executive producer on the show.

Ryan has also written and is set to star in The Duchess, a new sitcom coming to Netflix later this year.
