Sky Arts series returns

Eddie Izzard is to sit for the finalists in this year’s Portrait Artist of the Year.

The comic will take part in the last stage of the Sky Arts competition, when the last three remainig  artists will have to portray him

The winner will receive a £10,000 commission to paint ballet dancer  Carlos Acosta, which will be exhibited at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. 

The series will be presented by Stephen Mangan hosts  and  Joan Bakewell  from October 14.

Others sitting during tre heats include comedy stars Jane Horrocks, Ncuti Gatwa, Sian Clifford and Fay Ripley, plus Normal People’s Paul Mescal, drag star The Vivienne and former newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald.

This is the seventh series of Portrait Artist of the Year.
