Guests and launch date revealed

James Acaster and Josh Widdicombe’s new panel show Hypothetical starts on February 6, broadcaster Dave as announced. 

Eight episodes have been commissioned, in which guest comedians will compete for points based on how well they deal with ridiculous fictional  scenarios put to them. 

Examples given are: ‘You have to live in a motorway services for a year. How do you cope?’, ‘You have to take a selfie with Nicolas Cage within 48 hours or die. How do you do it?’ and ‘You've been booked for the Royal Variety Performance with an hour to spare. You can't do comedy. What do you do?’

The guests are

Episode one: Rob Beckett, Jessica Knappett, Liza Tarbuck and Tom Allen 

Episode two:  Romesh Ranganathan, Rachel Parris, Jon Richardson and Rose Matafeo

Episode three: Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Nish Kumar and Ed Gamble

Episode four: Romesh Ranganathan,Rosie Jones, Kerry Godliman and Matt Forde

Episode five:  Dara O Briain, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Suzi Ruffell and  Nish Kumar

Episode six: Roisin ConatyPhil Wang, Victoria Coren-Mitchell and Darren Harriott

Episode seven:  Katherine Ryan, John Robins, Ivo Graham and Cariad Lloyd

Episode eight: David O'Doherty, Guz Khan, Sara Pascoe and Cariad Lloyd

The show is being made by Have I Got News For You producers Hat Trick, who describe it as a ‘very silly, relentlessly funny new show hosted by two comedians at the top of their game’.

Once the broadcast date was confirmed, Acaster tweeted: ‘It was so much fun to film and we're excited for you to see it.'
