Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook mark 25 years of The Office

Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook are to reunite for a BBC special marking 25 years since The Office first aired.

The pair, who played Tim Canterbury and Gareth Keenan in the mockumentary, had not seen each other for more than 15 years before filming the programme, called Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman Remember... The Office.

Written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the original series first appeared on BBC Two on July 9, 2001 and ran for two seasons and a 2003 Christmas special.

Among the stories covered, Freeman will recall how he first auditioned for the role of Gareth before being cast as Tim, and Crook will  talk about how he came to have what is widely regarded as one of the worst haircuts in British television.  The pair will also give their opinions on the American adaptation.

Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman Remember... The Office will be shown on BBC Two and iPlayer at 10pm on Wednesday, July 8.

All episodes of the original series are available on iPlayer, along with other Remember… interviews, featuring the likes of Michael Palin, Jasper Carrott and sitcom writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais lo
