HBO drops Larry David documentary

...at the comedian's request

A documentary about Larry David has been pulled from the TV schedules just hours before it was due to air – apparently at the request of the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator.

The two-part show was set to begin on America’s HBO network tonight, but yesterday the broadcaster tweeted that it was being postponed as ‘Larry has decided he wants to do it in front of an audience’

The Larry David Story was originally based around an interview the comedian conducted with his friend, Larry Charles, who also directed the project.

In the trailer released last month, 74-year-old David said of his siccess: ‘I never thought of myself as funny. Anything I was associated with that could be successful was a shock.’

David co-created Seinfeld with Jerry Seinfeld before creating Curb Your Enthusiasm in 1999, playing a semi-fictionalised version of himself.
