Student Comedy Award 2022 semi-finals announced

See the best up-and-coming comedians

Chortle today announces the five semi-finals in our annual student comedy award.

Following an initial, online, round we have selected 60 of the best up-and-coming comics who are still at university to take part in the next stage.

One act from each semi will automatically go through to the final at the Edinburgh Fringe, along with between three and five wildcards from across them all.

The finalists will also perform at the Comedy Arena at the Latitude festival in Southwold, Suffolk, on the weekend of July 21-24, alongside some of the biggest names in stand-up.

With previous winners and finalists including Joe Lycett, Jamali Maddix, Ed Gamble, Chris Ramsey, Laura Lexx, Iain Stirling, Simon Bird and Tom Rosenthal, the contest has a formidable reputation for finding new talent.

This year’s winner will again receive a working trip of a lifetime to perform in Australia, thanks to the generous support of the Comedy Lounge in Perth.
