The best of the week's live comedy

The best of what's an understandably quiet week in live comedy.

Sunday December 22

LONDON: Arthur Smith hosts a Christmas Spectacular at Up The Creek tonight, including the equally craggy-face Rich Hall, anarchic duo Roisin & Ciara, louche stand-up Tom Stade and pro wrestler turned comedian, Danny Garnell.

Monday December 23

LONDON: The Edge, the Comedy Store’s topical stand-up show, presents its review of the year with Ian Stone, Jarred Christmas, Luke Toulson, Sean Meo, Steve Gribbin and Tania Edwards.

Merry Christmas

Friday December 27

LONDON: Andy Zaltzman presents starts a run at the Soho Theatre offering his ‘certifiable history’ of 2019. Sadly he won’t be short of raw material given what a tsunami of guano the past 12 months have offered.

Saturday December 28

BRISTOL: It’s hard to know whether to go out in the Chrimbo Limbo between the big nights out, but the excellent bill at the Comedy Box at the Hen and Chicken should lure Bristolians away from the sofa, thanks to the smart playfulness of Carey Marx, Josh Howie and MC Sally-Anne Hayward.

LONDON: American Colin Quinn is to perform his first UK gig in a 35-year stand-up career. The former Saturday Night Live regular, who has hosted his own Comedy Central show Tough Crowd and played Amy Schumer’s father in Trainwreck, will be at the Leicester Square Theatre tonight. He also has three specials on Netflix, including his latest – Red State Blue State – and 2016’s The New York Story, which was directed by Jerry Seinfeld. Tickets for his UK visit, priced £26.50, are available here.
