Inbetweeners 2 smashes another box office record

A tight 5: August 12

THE INBETWEENERS 2 has had the biggest opening weekend at the British box office of 2014, grossing £12.5 million. This follows its first day, August 6, when it took £2.75 million – the biggest ever opening day for a comedy.

Mark Watson is to reunite with Tim Key and Tom Basden for a new Radio 4 programme. Mark Watson Wants To Briefly Talk To You About The Point Of Life follows earlier Watson-fronted shows that also featured Key and Basden as sidekicks. Four shows will be taped in London next month. 2013 FOSTERS nominees Max & Ivan are making their only Edinburgh Fringe appearance at a benefit in aid of homeless people. The Stand Up for Shelter gig takes place on August 23 at the McEwan Hall, and also features Sara Pascoe, Frisky & Mannish, Tony Law, Rob Deering and Aisling Bea. Tickets.

CHANNEL 4 has released its first #Mashed episodes on its 4oD on-demand service. YouTubers including Mr Weebl, RageNineteen, Sam Green Media and Boyinaband produced videos for the channel. Three episodes and seven standalone clips have been released here.

EDINBURGH's Gilded Balloon is to run a new weekly club in Glasgow – the first time it's operated a regular night in the city for more than 20 years. The shows at craft beer venue The Vintage at Drygate start on Friday August 29, with two shows a night.
