Netflix renews dark comedy show for a second season

Netflix has commissioned a second series of Tom Segura’s dark comedy series Bad Thoughts.

‘I’m so excited,’ the comedian said as he shared a video of him breaking the news to his unimpressed looking mother. ‘She’s definitely not happy with it.’

The video was shared on Netflix, which added: ‘Sorry to tom segura’s mom – bad thoughts is coming back for a season 2.’

Commentators have described Bad Thoughts  as ‘proudly tasteless’ and ‘What if Black Mirror, but anti-woke?’, while the streamer itself calls it a collection of ‘hilariously disturbing stories that push the boundaries of decency’.

In the final sketch of the first season Segura uses a rusty hatchet to hack off his own penis, which has grown to  the size of a large snake. Another sketch had him playing a washed-up  country music star who kidnapped fans and forced them to share their most personal and traumatic experiences to inspire his next song..

Guest stars in series one included Rachel Bloom, Bobby Lee, Jimmy Kimmel and Segura’s wife, Christina Pazsitzky and it popular with viewers, reaching No2 on Netflix’s weekly charts when it debuted last month

In a statement to showbiz trade website Variety, Segura said: ‘It was such a thrill to get the opportunity to entertain and horrify audiences with our very Bad Thoughts on Netflix.

‘We’re all so excited to push things further with Season 2. I promise your family will not approve of what we do.’
