Kath's back

BBC2 to air series 2 of Aussie sitcom

BBC Two has bought the rights to air the second series of suburban Australian sitcom Kath & Kim.

The eight-part series, the top-rated comedy down under, will air sometime next year.

The first series was broadcast in May, to warm critical reaction and audiences of around 1.5 million.

Co-creator Jane Turner, who plays Kath said: "We are thrilled to be back on BBC Two with Kath & Kim and we hope that audiences will enjoy the second series, that we can push their buttons and they will again take us to their collective British bosom."

The first series will be repeated on BBC Two this winter to help build an audience for season two.

Kath & Kim has been sold to the UK, USA, New Zealand, Singapore, Finland, South Africa, Canada, Ireland and Fiji.
