Experts for Cunk On Cinema announced

Philomena Cunk’s next victims have been released.

Diane Morgan’s dim alter-ego has interviewed Benedict Cumberbatch, Transformers director  Michael Bay and critic Mark Kermode for the three-part Cunk On Cinema.

No broadcast date has yet been announced, but the three half-hour episodes will air on the BBC in the UK and Netflix elsewhere. 

Also sharing their wisdom are Project Hail Mary composer  Daniel Pemberton, Die Hard screenwriter Steven E. de Souza, Avengers Assembl ecinematographer  Seamus McGarvey, film-maker and author Mark Cousins, Isabel Stevens of Sight and Sound magazine, Helen O’Hara  of Empire Magazine, Catherine Bray of Screen International and Bryony Dixon, the BFI’s curator of silent film.

Charlie Brooker leads a team of writers including Ben Caudell, Erika Ehler, Eli Goldstone, Jason Hazeley, Dan Maier, Diane Morgan, Joel Morris, Michael Odewale, Kali Varghese, and Sam Ward.

The BBC says: ‘The three-part series will uncover the invention of the camera, to the New Wave filmmakers of the 60s, right up to the entrance of CGI and what the future of AI holds. Cunk will attempt to demystify it all while sitting in lumpy seats with stale popcorn, asking herself: where did cinema come from? And why? What does it want? And why can’t it tell us?’
