Jim Davidson blasts Mel and Sue over The Generation Game

...even though he says he's never heard of them

comedyJim Davidson claims he’s ‘never heard of’ Mel and Sue – yet is convinced they will be a disaster hosting The Generation Game.

‘They’re not right, they won’t know how to ad-lib,’ the stand-up claimed, despite protesting his ignorance of the pair who helped make Bake-Off such a success.

‘They’re not there to teach them how to bake a fucking cake,’ the charmer added in an interview with The Sun.

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins stepped into the revival of the show after Miranda Hart pulled out, and earlier this year it was revealed that the BBC had cut the number of planned shows from four to just two.

But Davidson – who hosted the show from 1995 to 2002 – insisted the pair would be unable to fill Sir Bruce Forsyth’s shoes.

'I don’t know these women, I’ve never heard of them but you need someone that’s going to be able to ad-lib and drive the show along,' he said.

'That’s why Bruce was so good. He drove it along his way.

‘He was the energy. You can’t remember any of the people on it, all you remember is Bruce.’

Davidson thinks the only man up to the job would be The Chase host Bradley Walsh.
