The Young Offenders' costume drama
...as cast agree to matching tattoos
Attention to every detail is crucial while filming a TV comedy.
So when one of the jackets worn by a cast member of The Young Offenders didn't show the wear and tear needed for one of the working-class Cork characters, the costume department set to work.
‘We all stood there watching one of the team attack it with scissors and then literally kick it up and down the street to give it that really worn-in look,’ said Hilary Rose, pictured, who plays Máiréad MacSweeney.
Only later did they realise the jacket was no prop – but the actual property of one of the actors, who remains unnamed.
'We still get a great laugh out of that one,’ Rose added.
Meanwhile, the cast all decided to get matching tattoos just below their little toes to celebrate the fifth series.
Shane Casey, who plays Billy Murphy revealed that they agreed 'because our medic is also a tattoo artist’.
But he added: 'Somebody decided that they weren't going to do it, so we never ended up doing it. Or did we? Maybe somebody did…’
The Young Offenders returns to iPlayer for its fifth series on Friday April 3.
