Russell Brand sells his Oxfordshire pub

...not that he ever opened it as a pub

comedyRussell Brand has sold the Oxfordshire pub he bought five years ago, making a £100,000 profit on the sale.

The former comedian bought The Crown in Pitsill near his Henley-on-Thames home for £870,000 and vowed to keep it open.

But he then annoyed locals with plans to turn it into offices and a recording studio for his burgeoning online activities.

Plans were knocked back following the outcry, with Brand then issuing a new proposal for the studios alongside the pub. However he was said to have made ‘no attempt’ to o reopen The Crown, a 15th Century former coaching inn .

Now the Daily Mail reports that businessman John Bloomer has bought the village boozer for £975,000.

Brand is facing seven charges of rape and indecent assault, which he denies,  which will be heard in court in October.
