Jaws play The Shark Is Broken extends its West End residency

The Shark Is Broken, the comedy play about the making of Jaws, has extended its West End run.

The show – written by and starring Ian Shaw, the son of original movie star Robert Shaw – will now run at the Ambassadors Theatre until February 13.

New Sunday matinee performances at 2.30pm have been added to the schedule, too.

Producer Sonia Friedman said: ‘Put simply, we’re gonna need a bigger run!

‘Having been suspended for 16 months in 2020, just before rehearsals were due to commence, it’s fantastic that this new play finally opened in the West End to such a rapturous response, with our dedicated audiences travelling from all over the UK to see this entertaining yet profound look behind the scenes of one of the most famous films ever made.’

The show – first a hit at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe – had originally been scheduled to end its London on January 15.

Shaw wrote the show with Joseph Nixon and stars alongside alongside Liam Murray Scott as Richard Dreyfuss, and Demetri Goritsas as Roy Scheider. Guy Masterson directs.
