Great Yorkshire Fringe to return

The Great Yorkshire Fringe is to return to York, with comics including Omid Djalili, Stephen K Amos and Tony Slattery among the first to be announced.

The event, which runs from July 19 to 29, will involve two Spiegeltents erected in Parliament Street in the city centre, as well as shows in other  venues.

Other comics heading to the festival include Ed Gamble, Barbara Nice, Sh*t-Faced Shakespeare and Lost Voice Guy.

Festival founder and York resident Martin Witts – who also runs the Leicester Square Theatre and Museum Of Comedy in London –  said: this year’s event would be ‘bigger, brasher, cooler than ever before with over 500 performers, the best street festival of food drink and delights on this island – well we think so.’
