Kevin Bridges breaks Belfast arena record

Comic plays The O2 more than any other stand-up

Kevin Bridges will this weekend become the comedian who has played the most gigs at The O2 Belfast.

The stand-up performs his 20th and 21st shows at Northern Ireland’s largest indoor arena tomorrow and Saturday as part of his Here If You Need Me tour.

Bridges first played the venue in 2012 when it was known as the Odyssey Arena, and has come back for each of his big arena tours since: A Whole Different Story in 2015, The Brand New Tour in 2018 and The Overdue Catch-Up in 2022, all when it was called the SSE Arena,.

Bridges said: ‘I first performed in Belfast 20 years ago at the legendary Empire comedy club, and I felt I immediately clicked with the audiences here.

‘I’ve always loved the people and their humour; it’s a perfect mixture of edge and self-deprecation – similar to Glasgow – and I’ve always tried to play with that on stage over the years.

‘To perform 21 nights over five tours is incredible and very humbling to be shown so much love by a special city. Thank you, Belfast, and keep her lit.’

Claire Cosgrave, arena director at The O2 Belfast, said: ‘Kevin has a real connection with Belfast audiences, and you can feel it in the room every time he’s here. His shows sell out fast, and the craic is always brilliant.’
