Vir Das gets a fourth Netflix special

Landing will premiere on Boxing Day

Vir Das has announced that his new hour stand-up special Landing will premiere on Netflix on Boxign Day.

It is his fourth special with the streamer, and was the show he toured under the title Wanted, playing 180 dates.

The show revolves around the reaction he got to his Two Indias monologue he delivered at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC last year. Video of the speech about the two sides of his homeland – including lines such as ‘I come from an India where we worship women during the day and gang-rape them at night’ – went viral.

After the Washington show, Das boarded a plane back to his home in Mumbai and by the time he disembarked, his entire world had changed, which is the premise  of Landing.

It is described as ‘a show about freedom, foolishness, the west, the east, and what it means to be a citizen of one nation in a global world’.

Das is also performing the show live at EartH in East London on Sunday, which has already sold out.

Here is the Two Indias speech, recorded after a stand-up show, which has attracted six million views on YouTube alone:
