Mae Martin shoots Netflix stand-up special

Their first hour for the streaming platform

Mae Martin is to shoot their first hour-long Netflix stand-up special.

The Canadian comic’s show Sap will be taped at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver on Thursday, for release sometime next year.

Broad City co-creator Abbi Jacobson will be directing the special, the Hollywood Reporter.

Martin has previously had a half-hour set on the streaming service, released as part of its Comedians of the World strand in 2019. They also participated in Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration special, recorded at the Netflix Is A Joke festival this year and now streaming.

The platform also commissioned a second series of Martin’s semi-autobiographical comedy Feel Good, co-starring Charlotte Ritchie, after Channel 4 stepped away.  Both seasons are now available on Netflix.

The comic was last night unveiled as one of the contestants in the forthcoming fifteenth series of Taskmaster, alongside Frankie Boyle, Jenny Eclair, Ivo Graham and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.
