Bad Sisters gets a second series

Sharon Horgan’s dark comedy-turned-murder-mystery to return to Apple TV

Apple TV+ has ordered a second series of Sharon Horgan’s comedy Bad Sisters.

The dark comedy-turned-murder-mystery about the Garvey sisters living on the coast of Ireland has proved a critical hit, with  Rotten Tomatoes reporting a 100 per cent approval rating.

Horgan developed the series based on the Flemish series Clan and wrote or co-wrote several of then ten episodes in series one as well as starring as Eva.

The cast also includes Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson – Bono’s daughter – as the other four sisters – as well as the likes of Brian Gleeson, Claes Bang, Yasmine Akram and Michael Smiley.

Horgan said today:  If you’d have told me three years ago that I’d be making a series about five murderous sisters chasing a man around Ireland trying to kill him I’d have said, "Yeah, that sounds about right."

"The response to our show had been beyond what we could have hoped for. It gave us the opportunity to shine a light on stories that don’t always get such a global platform. I look forward to getting chilly in the Irish Sea one more time.’

Bad Sisters is produced by Horgan’s company Merman Television and ABC Signature.
