Comic lends his voice to upcoming animation

Brett Goldstein has joined the cast of the new animated Garfield film.

Details of the comic’s role have not yet been revealed, but he joins an ensemble led by Chris Pratt.

Also lending their voices are the previously announced Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Ving Rhames and Hannah Waddingham, his Ted Lasso co-star.

As well as Goldstein’s involvement, Hollywood website Deadline reports that Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang has joined the project, due for release in May 2024.

Double Emmy-winner Goldstein is in increasing demand in Hollywood on the back of his Ted Lasso success. He recently appeared as Hercules in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder and is the co-creator  of the upcoming  Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking.

Garfield is being directed by Chicken Little’s Mark Dindal, based on Jim Davis’ cartoon strip
