Alan Carr to make Agatha Christie documentary

Three-part series for More 4

Alan Carr is to make a travel documentary about his literary heroine, Agatha Christie.

The comic has been a lifelong fan of the mystery writer and will now explore her intriguing life in a three-part show for More 4.

He said: ‘I genuinely can’t wait to film this series. Whether it’s this year’s star-studded Hollywood remake of Death On The Nile or reruns of David Suchet’s Poirot on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I just can’t help getting drawn into Agatha Christie’s world.

‘I still get just as excited as when I picked up The Murder At The Vicarage in a second-hand bookshop on a caravanning holiday in Devon all those years ago.’

Kate Thomas, who commissioned the series, said: 'This beautiful series is a celebration of the British landscape, the woman who immortalised it in her writing and the fans around the world who, like Alan Carr,  are captivated by her stories to this day.'

Alan Carr’s Adventures With Agatha Christie will visit villages in the West Country where the writer grew up and show the glamour of Art Deco London.

Christie was also at the centre of a real-life mystery in 1926, when she vanished after a row with her husband. Her empty car was found near a Surrey quarry sparking a nationwide hunt until she was eventually found in Harrogate ten days later.
