C4 orders two more series of The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan

Comedian to return later this year

Channel 4 has ordered a third and fourth series of The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan.

Each new season will comprise eight hour-long episodes of games, sketches, music and chat, with the first airing later this year.

The comic also vowed to continue his drive to give more off-screen jobs to people from backgrounds under-represented in the TV industry.

He said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled that Channel 4 have given us such an incredible commissioning commitment.

‘The whole team is very proud of Lateish and through this long-term partnership we’ll continue to work hard to make the very best show we can, whilst also creating more opportunities behind camera for those from under-represented groups.’

The news come as Gilligan prepares to host the Brit awards next month – and works on a British version of the American comedy gameshow That's My Jam for the BBC.

Channel 4’s head of entertainment, Phil Harris, said: ‘Channel 4 is proud to be the home of the most exciting names in comedy entertainment and even as he takes over the world, Mo still maintains his incredible passion for The Lateish Show. This two-series recommission cements our commitment to Mo and his place as a key Channel 4 talent.’

Gilligan won a Bafta for best entertainment performance category last year for the series, whose guests have included Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Steve Coogan and Tyson Fury.

Pollyanna McGirr, executive producer for Gilligan’s production company Momo G added: they were ‘blown away’ by Channel 4’s commitment to the ‘joyous, history-making show’.
