Sky confirms Greg Davies as host – and names the team captains

Sky has confirmed its revival of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, to be hosted by Greg Davies.

Noel Fielding and Daisy May Cooper will be the team captains with Jamali Maddix as a series regular.

All three previously faced Davies on Taskmaster.

Eight 45-minute episodes will air this autumn, plus a Christmas special – and were commissioned following a try-out in September last year.

Davies said: 'I have always loved Never Mind the Buzzcocks and am thrilled to be the new host on Sky. We have brilliant comedic talent on the team and plenty of exciting musical guests will be joining us.'

Director of entertainment for Sky, Phil Edgar-Jones said that Buzzcocks is ‘one of those truly iconic shows’ and that its  return would be ‘a buzz and a treat for lovers of tuneless humming everywhere’.

Kate Edmunds, director of programmes for producers Talkback, added: ‘We’re over the moon that Sky have made the very wise decision to reboot our beloved Buzzcocks. Musicians, stand down, we hear your deafening cries for some long overdue attention.’

The original show aired on the BBC between 1996 and 2015, and was first hosted by Mark Lamarr, followed by Simon Amstell, a number of guest hosts, and Rhod Gilbert for the final series.

Phill Jupitus was a team captain, throughout all 28 series, while Sean HughesBill Bailey and Noel Fielding captained the other team.

Previous reports said the  revival involves several changes to the format.
