Vic Reeves to host The Big Flower Fight for Netflix

'A Bake Off for gardeners'

Vic Reeves is to present a gardening contest for Netflix dubbed a Bake Off for horticulturalists, Chortle can reveal.

With the working title The Big Flower Fight, the eight-part series will involve ten pairs of florists, sculptors and garden designers competing in a series of themed challenges to create giant flower installations.

Each episode will test a different set of the competitors' creative and practical skills, from floristry to carpentry and landscaping.

Reeves, real name Jim Moir, is a keen gardener and countryside enthusiast and has previously hand-made flowers for the National Trust's A Plant in Time exhibition.

The series is part of Netflix's burgeoning non-scripted slate of programming in the UK and its first commission from Multistory Media. The company’s Ana de Moraes, who previously developed First Dates and The Choir, created the show.

Reeves and Bob Mortimer are set to return in another series of Vic and Bob's Big Night Out later this year on BBC Two.

The pair are also developing a movie, The Glove, about two best friends in search of Michael Jackson’s white glove, which co-stars Matt Lucas, Noel Fielding, Paul Whitehouse, Tim Key, Morgana Robinson, Tony Way and Tony Pitts.
