WINCHESTER: Comedian and prolific podcaster Sofie Hagen starts a sporadic tour of her new show The Bumswing, about 'memory, chickens, strawberries, sex holidays and a swing that once had a naked bum on it'. HASTINGS: Jo Brand, Robin Ince and Andy Robinson perform a benefit at the White Rock Theatre for local cancer care charity The Sara Lee Trust, which provides counselling, therapy and other activities for those with the disease.

MANCHESTER: Running for just over a week, the seventh Women In Comedy festival kicks off with a launch gig at TriBeCa featuring Annette Fagon, Barbara Nice and Bethany Black. The website is here but appears to be down at the time of writing.

YORK: Last Leg star Josh Widdicombe starts his new tour of comedy grumbles, Bit Much…, at the Barbican Centre. Dates.

LONDON: Jonny Pelham had one of the best shows of the Edinburgh Fringe - even if it eluded the award judges - making a potentially heavy issue very funny. Review. Off Limits is now visiting Soho Theatre for three nights.

BIRMINGHAM: The city's comedy festival kicks off with its traditional Breaking Talent Award at the Glee Club. Competing for the title are Celya AB, Jay Droch, Adam Elmi, Doug Carter and Mary Flanigan, all selected by a panel of comedy professionals. Also James Acaster is at the Town Hall, among other events.

POOLE: There's a strong club night at the Lighthouse Arts Centre, with stalwarts Ben Norris, Tom Stade and Zoe Lyons showing exactly how it's done.
