Hill and Hart lead Comedy Award nods

British Comedy Award nominees named

The nominees for the British Comedy Awards have been unveiled, with Harry Hill and Miranda Hart leading the shortlist, with four nods apiece.

Hill has nominations for best male comic, best entertainment personality, and the People's Choice Award - while TV Burp is up for best comedy entertainment programme. Hart is up for best comedy actress and the People's Choice, While her self-titled sitcom, just renewed for a third series, is up for best new comedy and best sitcom

This year is also the first time since 2000 that a children's show has been nominated, with Horrible Histories in the running for best sketch show alongside Harry & Paul and Armstrong & Miller. Previously, SM:TV won the People's Choice award.

The full list of nominees for the accolades - to be handed out in a live ceremony on Channel 4 next Saturday - is:

Best Female Comic: Jo Brand; Sarah Millican; Shappi Khorsandi.

Best New British TV Comedy:Grandma’s House; Miranda; The Trip.

Best Male Comedy Breakthrough Artist: Jack Whitehall; John Bishop; Kayvan Novak.

Best Female Comedy Breakthrough Artist: Isy Suttie; Sam Spiro [Grandma's House]; Sarah Millican.

Best Sketch Show: Harry & Paul; Horrible Histories; The Armstrong & Miller Show.

Best Sitcom: Miranda; The Inbetweeners; The Thick Of It.

Best Comedy Actor: James Buckley; Peter Capaldi; Rob Brydon; Tom Hollander.

Best Comedy Actress: Jo Brand; Katherine Parkinson; Miranda Hart.

Best British Comedy Performance in Film: Aaron Johnson; Kayvan Novak; Nigel Lindsay.
