Musical comedian Rachel Parris was nominated for best music or variety act in the 2014 Chortle Awards.

She previously reached the finals of several competitions, including Leicester Square New Comedian Of The Year and Hackney Empire New Act Of The Year in 2011 as well as being placed runner-up in the Funny Women Awards 2010 and the Musical Comedy Awards in 2012. She also appeared in the final episode of the IT Crowd.

Rachel Parris wins Bath Plug award

Handed out by city's comedy festival

Rachel Parris has won this year’s Bath Plug Award, presented by the Bath Comedy Festival.

The Mash Report and Now Show regular is only the fourth person to have received the accolade –  a specially engraved golden bath plug – following Terry Jones,  Barry Cryer and Comic Strip Presents guru Peter Richardson.

Comedy historian Jem Roberts, one of the organisers of the award, described Parris as ‘a unique voice in British comedy, her brand of smiling satire having gone viral around the world’.
