Rachel Parris writes her first book

Based on life tips she solicited from her audiences

Rachel Parris has written her first book – a collection of life tips based on advice she has solicited from her comedy audiences.

The result, entitled Advice From Strangers: Everything I Know From People I Don’t Know, is described as an ‘uplifting feminist manifesto’ and will be published in March.

She said: ‘When I asked hundreds of strangers to give me their best piece of life advice, I didn't expect the results to be so wise, so funny, or so outright weird, or that their advice would inspire me to write a book. But here it is!

‘I'm proud and excited to share this book, it is a real collaboration between me and my audiences. I hope you enjoy it’

Fans’ suggestions varied from ‘be kind’ to 'never pass up the opportunity for a wee’, which she then explored for the book, which covers topics as varied as tampons, Tories, #hashtags and staying hydrated.

It will be published by Hodder Studio on March 17 in hardback, e-book and audiobook.

Publisher Myfanwy Moore, who bought the rights from Parris' agent Sophie Chapman, said the comedian 'has used advice from random strangers as a starting off point to explore contemporary society, social media and issues from the sublime to the ridiculous in a way that is funny, clever but also highly honest and moving',

The release coincides with Parris’s latest tour, All Change Please, in which the Mash Report star promises ‘stand-up and songs about sudden love, the highs and lows of relationships, family, weddings, kids, going viral and the baffling state of play in society’.
