Rob and Romesh return to host the Baftas
Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan will host the Bafta Television Awards again this year, the academy has announced.
They will be back on 12 May, after the audience for last year’s ceremony, which they also hosted, peaked at 4.4 million on BBC One.
Beckett, said: ‘Romesh and I are absolutely buzzing to be back hosting the Baftas.’
And he jokes: ‘We’ve not seen or spoken to each other since last year when we hosted so it will be good to catch up. It’s a real privilege to continually get work together even though our friendship is fake and completely fabricated for commercial gain.
‘My teeth aren’t even that big I wear false ones so I can joke about them. On top of that Romesh isn’t even Asian he just pretends to be so he can do his mum’s accent.’
Ranganathan, added: ‘I really thought I’d done enough last year to be asked to host it solo this time, but hosting it with Rob again is also an honour I suppose.’
The awards, sponsored by P&O Cruises, will also be broadcast across the world with various local parters.
Emma Baehr, executive director of awards at Bafta said the comedians were ‘utterly brilliant hosts’ last year, ‘cementing their reputation as one of the nation’s most treasured comedy duos'.
