Eddie Murphy's Saturday Night Live monologue

Back on the show after 35 years

Eddie Murphy returned to host Saturday Night Live last night - 35 years after he left the show.

In his opening monologue, the comic joked that he barely looked five years older, and was gobsmacked how life turned out that he was a doting father and Bill Cosby was in jail.

'If you told me 30 years ago that I’d be this boring stay-at-home house dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I wouldn’t have took that bet,' father-of-ten Murphy said, adding in Cosby's voice: 'Who is America’s dad now?'

But as he spoke he was interrupted by Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, Kenan Thomas and Dave Chappelle.

'Right now you are looking at half of Netflix’s budget right here on stage,' Chappelle joked.
