Tommy Tiernan: Writing stand-up is 'hellishly difficult'

Comic admits he still finds it hard

comedyHe might make it look easy, but Tommy Tiernan says he finds writing stand-up 'hellishly difficult'.

Speaking to promote the return of his chat show to Ireland's RTE this weekend, he said: 'I really enjoy the stand-up when I have a show in my pocket and I can perform it. Putting a stand-up show together I find hellishly difficult."

Tiernan, 50, added he also gets nervous about his acting, despite finding success in Derry Girls.

He told The RTE Guide: "The acting, I enjoy hanging out with other people.

'I put myself under an awful lot of pressure when it comes to acting because I’m trying to get it right and trying to decide which way is the way to do it properly.'
