The American version of Have I Got News For You has been recommissioned by CNN for a fifth series, premiering on September 12.
The show, hosted by comedian Roy Wood Jr. with team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black, has aired on CNN since 2024. It follows the same format as the long-running BBC original, adapted for an American audience.
Wood Jr., Ruffin and Black said in a joint statement: 'We're thrilled to return for season five and continue covering the nation's most important stories, most of which still sound made up.'
Guests on the most recent series included Senator Adam Schiff, comedians Hasan Minhaj and Larry Wilmore, and broadcaster Andy Richter.
CNN executive Amy Entelis, said: 'Season four demonstrated just how strongly this series is resonating with audiences, becoming a standout performer across CNN’s platforms and a meaningful part of the weekly conversation online/
'At a time when people are looking for entertaining ways to engage with the nonstop news cycle, Roy, Amber and Michael continue to deliver something that feels timely and culturally relevant – and we will continue building on that success with a fifth season this fall.'
The show is produced by Hat Trick Productions, the British independent behind the original UK series, which has been running on the BBC since 1990.
A companion podcast, Have I Got News For Your Ears, hosted by Black, releases new episodes every Wednesday.
