Theatre show airing on U&Gold next month

John Cleese has recorded an introduction for the TV screening of the Fawlty Towers play.

In the clip, he thanks the play's cast and crew and explains: 'We took three episodes and we sort of spliced them together and came up with a grand ending, producing the funniest show that has ever been produced since the universe began.

The footage was filmed at the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End last month, where the play runs until September 13 before a ten-month UK tour

Fawlty Towers: The Play will air on U&Gold on the 50th anniversary of the show's first ever episode, September 19.

 It stars Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, Hemi Yeroham as Manuel and Victoria Fox as Polly.
