The hunt is on for the funniest crustacean jokes
Curators of Europe’s only crab museum are looking for the funniest joke about the crustacean.
The contest will be judged by comedians Sally Phillips, Harry Hill, Rose Matafeo and Phil Wang, as well as the QI elves behind the No Such Thing As A Fish podcast, the Beano’s Mike Stirling, scientists Ella Al-Shamahi and Lucy Cooke – and a classroom of kids at Ramsgate Arts Primary School.
Crab Museum co-founder Chase Coley said: ‘A crab joke contest may sound silly, but humour can be a powerful tool for engaging the public in bigger issues such as climate change, biodiversity collapse, or finding out where crabs poo from.’
The winner will be crowned at the Crab Museum in Margate, Kent, on April 26, which is International Crab Day, as part of an evening of comedy and science.
