First shows on sale now

The Wells Comedy Festival will return for an eighth year in 2024, organisers have announced.

The event will bring dozens of comedians to the smallest city in England across the bank holiday weekend of May 24-26

The first shows announced include James Acaste, who returns with his solo show Hecklers Welcome, double Edinburgh Comedy Award winner John Kearns  with his critically acclaimed The Varnishing Days, and Jessica Fostekew wit her new stand-up show Mettle as part of a national tour.

As well as solo shows, the festival’s four gala performances are now on sale, each featuring a surprise line-up of comics from across the festival.

Festival director Ben Williams said: ‘We’re thrilled to already be announcing our first few shows for 2024, and welcoming back some festival favourites. We can’t wait to add more names to the line-up very soon.’
