Studio Lambert gets first refusal on future projects

Boarders creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor, has signed a deal with production company Studio Lambert to give them first refusal on any scripted projects he wants to develop.

Taylor started on the live scene as half of the comedy duo Ginger & Black  before creating the ITV2 sitcom Timewasters, which aired from 2017, earning him a Bafta nomination.

He then went on to create Boarders, a comedy-drama about five young black teens who earn scholarships into the prestigious boarding school, which first aired on BBC Three last year. Made by Studio Lambert, it is set to return for a third and final series next year.

Taylor – who also plays Gus in the show – said: ‘Working on Boarders has been one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences of my career. Collaborating with the team at Studio Lambert has been a true pleasure. It only makes sense to keep that momentum going. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and I can’t wait to push the boundaries even further and see what we cook up next.’

Madeleine Sinclair, creative director of scripted shows at the production house added: ‘Daniel is a truly singular talent. His writing crackles with energy and insight, humour and heart.

‘At Studio Lambert, we strive to develop dramas that are bold, relatable, and impossible to ignore - and Daniel’s work embodies that ethos. He’s been a total joy to work with on Boarders and we’re thrilled to continue our creative journey with him. I’m excited for what’s to come.’
