Line-up announced for David Johnson memorial gig

Benefit to fund the biggest prize in live comedy, set up in producer's honour

The line-up has been announced for the fundraising gig in memory of ebullient comedy producer David Johnson.

Stewart Lee, Fascinating Aïda. Camille O’Sullivan, Lynn Ferguson and Rhys Nicholson will be taking part alongside host Dave Johns.

The gig at Assembly George Square on Sunday will be raising money for the Emerging Talent Award set up in Johnson’s memory. The £11,000 prize is the biggest in live comedy and comes with an award designed and made by Simon Munnery.

Stephen Fry said: ‘This prize will keep DJ’s flame fiercely leaping.’

Johnson, who died in late 2020, championed the likes of Puppetry of the Penis, The Rubberbandits and  Kim Noble as well as those on the bill on Sunday.

Tickets for the benefit are on sale here, priced £16.50.
