'Martin Mucklowe' to lead a This Country walk

Paul Cooper takes part in charity fundraiser

This Country actor Paul Cooper is to lead a sponsored walk around some of the locations featured in the BBC sitcom.

The 8km stroll through the Cotswolds on September 10 will raise money for the Children’s Football Alliance, a charity he co-founded.

Paul is the father of This Country’s creators Charlie and Daisy May Cooper, and played feckless Martin Mucklowe, Kerry’s dad, in the comedy despite having no previous acting experience.

Described as ‘pleasant and relaxed’ the walk will start at the Keepers pub in Quenington which inspired the bar of the same name series – although scenes set there were actually shot at the Sherborne Arms in Cheltenham. It will then take in  other locations such as Coln St Aldwyns, Eastington and Northleach.

Media personality Nancy Dell’Olio will also be at the event to back the charity. The Children’s Football Alliance organises an event at the Flanders Peace Field –  the setting for the Christmas truce matches during the First World War – with a programme that teaches peace  education through play and sport.

Registration costs £50 per entry, whether you enter as an individual or a family, and includes a This Country Sponsored Walk T-shirt. Details are here.
