Edinburgh’s Free Festival set to go online

Launch gig this weekend

Organisers of Edinburgh’s Free Festival have announced plans to recreate this year’s event online.

They plan to air daily shows online, as well as some full day-long programming during August, plus weekly hows in the lead-up during  June and July.

Free Festival boss Alex Petty said: ‘A lot of the Free Fest performers who should have been producing shows this year have held over to next year, and we want to help support these performers by giving an opportunity to get their work out there and get some money for it.

‘Over the next few weeks, the full programme will be finalised. There will be a mix of solo shows and line-up style shows that follow the traditional donations model, and some will opt for a "Pay what you want" ticket’

The programme kicks off with a ‘pick of the Fringe’ comedy show via Twitch on Saturday night with Dave Chawner, Vladimir McTavish, Robyn Perkins, Jay Sodagar, Nik Coppin and Matt Price. And donations can be made to the acts here.
