Modern Family's 'Stella' dies

Bulldog passes just after the final episode

The French bulldog who played Stella in Modern Family has died, just days after the filming of the final episode

Beatrice was around 10 years old, The Blast reported, and had been on the show since 2012.

Stella was introduced in the second series as a problematic puppy with an appetite for destruction but loved by Jay Pritchett, played by Ed O’Neill.

It was originally played by a different bulldog called Brigitte – who was replaced when her owner insisted on being on set at all times.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played Mitch, paid tribute on Twitter:

According to the Good Dog Animals, and agency which provides dogs to Hollywood productions, Beatrice  ‘has mastered a wide range of behaviours and is always looking to put her skills to the test. She even knows how to skateboard.’
