Entries have opened for next year’s Amused Moose National New Comic Award.

The contest specifically aims to seek stars of the future with ‘the potential to progress beyond the comedy circuit' and previous winners have included Sarah Millican, Jack Whitehall and Rob Beckett.

Hopefuls should submit a five-minute clip of a performance in a comedy venue before January 14, after which there are quarter-finals and semi-finals in London and a final at next year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

The winner receives a ‘shiny Moose trophy and loads of exposure’.
