Writers Guild seeks the best online comedy

For its annual awards

The Writers’ Guild Of Great Britain is inviting applications for its online comedy award.

It is only the second year the accolade has been awarded. The category was added last year to reflect the huge increase in production of sketches and mini-sitcoms online.

Entries must be scripted, run for ten minutes or less and have been featured on an independent comedy website, including Chortle.

Not eligible are stand-up, wholly improvised shows, trailers, prank shows, audio-only shows or shows that rely on interaction with the public.

The deadline is  October 26, and the awards will be given out in January,

Last year’s winner was  Marek Larwood, pictured, with this sketch:

The application form is here – and nominations are also still open for best radio sitcom, and best TV comedy, category too.
