A Huge victory!
Davies is BBC New Comedy Award's second semi-finalist
Musical comedian Huge Davies has won the second heat of this year’s BBC New Comedy Award.
The comedian, who has already signed with Micky Flanagan’s agent Christian Knowles landed a place in the semi-final with a set that included a spoof of dance music lyrics.
He won the heat at Up The Creek in Greenwich, South London, last week, but the episode was only broadcast on Radio 4 Extra tonight.
Davies joins French comedian Ophélie Hocquard, who won the first show, as guaranteed semi-finalists at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Sikisa Bostwick-Barnes, an immigration solicitor by day, and Daniel Audritt, who has also performed in this competition for the past two years, were named as runners-up. They have a shot at a wildcard place in the semi-final.
More than 800 comedy hopefuls entered the BBC New Comedy Award this year. Previous winners have included Nina Conti, Rhod Gilbert, Alan Carr and Lucy Beaumont. See a list of all the previous winners and finalists here.
