RIDE OR DIE: Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham play two friends who have to go on the run from a mysterious enemy… with Waddingham's character having to reveal that she was secretly a highly trained assassin all this time. Bill Nighy co-stars in the action comedy written by Tessa Coates, formerly of the sketch group Massive Dad. Amazon Prime

THE HAWK The number of sports-themed comedies grows again, with Will Ferrell's first starring role in a TV series. He plays washed-up golf pro Lonnie 'The Hawk' Hawkings plotting a return to the big time as his son threatens to overshadow him. Co-stars include Molly Shannon, Fortune Feimster and Luke Wilson. Netflix

Thursday July 16

ANN DROID: In this new comedy landing on iPlayer today, Diane Morgan (who also wrote it) plays an overly attentive, socially inept, robot carer for Sue – played by Sue Johnson.  The droid was bought – second-hand – by Sue’s only son, Michael (Paul Ready),  to try to keep her company after her husband passed away. Needless to say things don't go as smoothly as hoped...  (Talking of which, we incorrectly listed this in last week's TV round-up, apologies for the error) BBC One, 9.30pm

Saturday July 18

YOU'RE DEAD TO ME: Historian Greg Jenner is joined by comedian Kemah Bob and expert Hannah Cusworth to learn about the swashbuckling lives of pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read. BBC Radio 4, 10:00am.
