Python provided a voice for In The Land Of Sometimes,
The last film role recorded by Terry Jones before his death in 2020 is coming to cinemas.
The Monty Python comic provides one of the voices in the animated adventure In The Land Of Sometimes, which also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Ewen McGregor.
Jones is the voice of the ‘Wish Watch’, which transports youngsters Alfie and Elise into the magical land of the title with the aid of The Wish Collector, played by McGregor.
The cast also includes Asa Butterfield as The Lad With The Flying Feet and Mel Brooks as The Postman, while Tim Rice and Pete Hobbs provides the songs.
Its release on March 20 has been a long time coming, as news that production was under way was first announced in 2016. It’s believed Jones recorded his part around that time.
David Walliams was named as part of the cast in the original announcement, but his name does not appear in the credits of the newly- released trailer.
In The Land Of Sometimes is based on the children’s audiobook of the same name, written by Francesca Longrigg. The script has been written by Tony Nottage – who previously penned Saving Santa with Marin Freeman – and playwright Martin Casella. Executive producers include Brooks and former BBC boss Alan Yentob, who died in May last year.
A distribution deal was announced in November. At the time, Spencer Pollar of Kaleidoscope Film Distribution said: ‘It has been a long journey to get here’, and added that the project was ‘a stellar family adventure that will be loved around the world’.
The statue of Jones as the nude organist from Monty Python's Flying Circus is due be unveiled on the seafront of his home town of Colwyn Bay on April 26.
