Fundraising gig to finance film celebrating his favourite jokes

Comedy stars are to reminisce about Barry Cryer at a fundraising event to finish a film paying tribute to him.

Shappi Khorsandi, Arthur Smith, Colin Sell, John Moloney, Alex Lowe, Mitch Benn, Bennett Arron, Simon Evans, Alan Cox and Justin Edwards will be talking about the I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue star at London’s Leicester Square Theatre on December 12.

Money raised will go towards  completing post-production on Joke, a short film in which stars celebrated Cryer’s life  by telling 12 of his favourite jokes.

Participants in the film – being made by Cryer’s son Bob – include Dame Judi Dench, Sir Stephen Fry, Alison Steadman, Harry Hill, Rebecca Front and Miles Jupp

Joke will premiere during a gala show at the Slapstick Festival in Bristol on February 6 next year, while tickets for the Leicester Square Theatre fundraiser are available here.

Cryer – who wrote for the likes of Morecambe & Wise, The Two Ronnies, Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper and Kenny Everett – died in 2022, aged 86.
