Tom Basden wins an award for film music

For The Ballad of Wallis Island

Tom Basden has won a British Independent Film Award for his music in The Ballad of Wallis Island.

He and composer Adem Ilhan last night won the accolade for best original music for the movie, which stars Basden as a faded folk musician who reunites with his former partner (Carey Mulligan) for an eccentric fan, played by Tim Key.

Yesterday’s announcement for the BIFA’s craft awards come ahead of the main ceremony at the Roundhouse in North London on Sunday November 30.

The film is also up for best film, with the script nominated for best screenplay and Key and Basden jointly in the running for best debut screenwriters.
